Workshops for parents and other involved

Workshops for parents and other involved

In these workshops, different types of disabilities are discussed, such as autism, Down syndrome or physical disabilities. And how to deal with someone with this disability.

Most parents of children with disabilities love their child, some are even really proud of it. The problem often lies with the community in which they live. Children with disabilities are seen as something negative, so the parents must have done something wrong. Therefore, these children are kept out of sight, or sometimes tied to a tree where they are fed. This is how the child is punished the hardest!

Lumen Mundi would like to organize training sessions to show that there is nothing wrong with these children. They are not wizards or evil spirits. They also deserve a place in this society. In fact, we can learn something from them! For example, how you can be cheerful, even if you have a limitation, how you can enjoy life without grumbling, be happy with what you have.

Speakers will be invited who have experience with the subject in question. Or the workshop is given by someone from Lumen Mundi, depending on the subject. People can also request a specific workshop themselves.

From Lumen Mundi workshops can also be given at, for example, a pedagogical academy or for the Ghana Education Service.
