The target group

The Lumen Mundi school was founded for children with disabilities. Mainly for children with intellectual disabilities, because there is no education for them. Because they are generally thought not to be worth paying any attention to, let alone learning anything. But also for children with a physical disability, who often cannot go to school because they live too far from a school. Lumen Mundi wants to give all these children a chance to develop as well as possible.

In order to recruit students, Margreet has been able to publicize the school a few times via Radio Builsa. Parents were asked to bring their child in if they think they would qualify for the project. We also visited Siniensi, because that is where our school is located.

Due to the corona pandemic, the government has shifted the academic year, the new school year now starts in January instead of September. Due to the bureaucratic red tape, the school cannot start until February 15, 2022. The children will be collected and returned home with Lumen Mundi's converted MotorKing. A van would be much nicer, but that is expensive, even second-hand. Hopefully one can be purchased in a while.
