The education

The Lumen Mundi school will teach very differently than people in Ghana are used to. We do not work with the 'copy-paste' method of pre-and-afternomination. It makes no sense at all with a group of children with very different levels and very different problems. All kinds of materials will be used, which are adapted to the child; We will look at what each child needs personally. The children will be taught that they can ask themselves, which is not common in Ghanaian schools. This will also take some getting used to for the school team: not only are the children allowed to ask questions, they can also ask questions themselves if they do not understand something or need help in class.

Practical lessons are also given, such as dealing with money and tidying up. Some children will be able to contribute to the family in the future: cooking, washing, cleaning. A few will even be able to find simple work, such as cleaning work.

Another important form of education is going on an excursion to the market, the bank, a painter or whatever. Talk books are made from these topics. An additional advantage of these excursions is that the children become more visible to the communities and that the acceptance increases.
